NEW DELHI: The Enforcement Directorate has attached a Mumbai flat worth over Rs 3 crore and bank balance of more than Rs 70 lakh allegedly belonging to income tax officer Neeraj Singh who oversaw the probe into the Rose Valley chit fund scam while he was heading the I-T investigation unit in Kolkata.
The Rose Valley probe saw many senior leaders of TMC, filmstars and former Kolkata police commissioner Rajeev Kumar face questioning while some were even arrested. During investigation in the past few years, the ED has attached assets worth over Rs 4,500 crore. Assets of Rs 70 crore were attached earlier this year that included the bank balance of actor Shah Rukh Khan’s IPL franchise.
The Rose Valley group had collected more than Rs 17,000 crore from people by luring depositors with promises of high returns.
