TVS Motor Company hikes prices of BS-VI Jupiter

This is the second price increase since the scooter’s launch. The first time around, the company raised prices by just Rs 600. With an increase of Rs 1,040, the hike is almost double the amount this time.

The BS-VI upgrades to most vehicles have resulted in greater input costs and while some companies decided to raise prices at launch, some did it in phases. TVS Motor Company has now hiked the prices of the Jupiter scooter to a starting price of Rs 63,102.

This will be the second price increase since the scooter’s launch. The first time around, the company raised prices by just Rs 600. With an increase of Rs 1,040, the hike is almost double the amount this time.

The TVS Jupiter remains the same, despite the price hike. No changes nor additions have been made. The scooter is powered by a 110cc single-cylinder that churns out 7.3 PS and 8.4 Nm of torque.

However, during the upgrade to BS-VI emissions norms, TVS gave the Jupiter ET-Fi, or Eco Thrust Fuel Injection. This, the company claims, allows the scooter to achieve a 15 percent better fuel economy when compared to its BS-IV version.

The Jupiter is available in three variants – Base, ZX and Classic. But the differences are only cosmetic. The ZX variant gets a two-tone seat cover and beige plastic panels. The Classic on the other hand gets a few more goodies to look more upmarket like a tinted visor, chrome mirrors, a padded seat and a backrest.

The base variant of the TVS Jupiter is priced at Rs 63,102 while the ZX variant gets a price of Rs 65,102 and the Classic variant gets a sticker of Rs 69,902.
