With multiple movies premiering this weekend, viewers will be spoilt for choice. Leading the pack is Sushant Singh Rajput’s Dil Bechara. Other films which are set to give competition are Danish Sait starrer French Biriyani and two films having their digital release – Omerta (2017) and Moothon (2019).
Dil Bechara releases digitally on Disney+ Hotstar on July 24. It marks Sushant Singh Rajput’s last screen appearance. From paying a musical tribute to sharing behind-the-scenes photos and videos, its makers have left fans emotional and excited ahead of its release. Dil Bechara also stars Swastika Mukherjee, Jaaved Jaaferi, Milind Gunaji and Sahil Vaid. It is based on the book The Fault in Our Stars by John Green, which was earlier adapted into a Hollywood movie, starring Ansel Elgort and Shailene Woodley.
French Biriyani, on the other hand, has released on Amazon Prime Video. Produced by Kannada actor Puneeth Rajkumar, the film stars Danish Sait, Sal Yusuf, Disha Madan, Rangayana Raghu and others. This is Danish’s second feature film to be inspired by one of the many personas he assumed during prank calls from his time as an RJ. The third film releasing this week (ZEE5) is Hansal Mehta directorial Omerta. The biographical drama stars Rajkummar Rao in the role of terrorist Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh. Geetu Mohandas’ Moothon, starring Nivin Pauly, Sobhita Dhulipala, Shashank Arora, Sanjana Dipu, Melissa Raju Thomas and Roshan Mathew, is now available on ZEE5.
Here are all the films, web series and TV shows you can stream on Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ Hotstar, Netflix, ALTBalaji, SonyLIV, ZEE5, Apple TV+ and Voot among more.
Based on the 1993 novel of the same name by John le Carré, this miniseries has two of the best actors on television: Hugh Laurie and Tom Hiddleston. It is a espionage drama and is engaging throughout its run.
Hugh Jackman and Allison Janney play the roles of school superintendent Dr Frank A Tassone and district official Pamela Gluckin, respectively. The two are accused of embezzlement of hundreds of thousands of dollars from district funds. Their job is to bury the accusation and keep it from going public.
While the sunny Los Angeles is not as compelling a setting for horror as the dank streets of Victorian London, The City of Angels, Showtime horror series Penny Dreadful's spinoff, is surprisingly good, with a nice amalgam of contemporary social issues and the supernatural.
An Amazon Original, Lore is based on a podcast of the same name. Every episode of the show tells the origins of a horror story and although it is more of a documentary than drama, it is a slickly produced show that is engaging enough for a binge. You might want to check out the podcast as well. It is sublime.
Starring Sushant Singh Rajput and Sanjana Sanghi, Dil Bechara is now streaming on Disney+ Hotstar. This is the last film of Sushant and watching his performance in the film has overwhelmed his fans. Dil Bechara has been directed by Mukesh Chhabra.
Hansal Mehta directorial Omerta, starring Rajkummar Rao in the lead role, is streaming on ZEE5.

In her review of Dil Bechara, The Indian Express film critic Shubhra Gupta wrote, "A life-threatening disease plus sparkling young lives plus romance is a ready-made recipe for winsome smiles plus tugging-at-the-heart-strings plus tears. But the film is beset by choppiness, and that colours the characters of the Rajinikanth-loving, very filmi Manny and the sweet Kizie, who adores an obscure singer, him more than her."
Karanvir Bohra tweeted, "My buddy #SushanthSinghRajput you will be missed so so so much, I can't imagine how sad your family must be after seeing #DilBechara. You were the life of this film and the irony is you aren't in this life anymore."
Within hours of its release, Sushant Singh Rajput and Sanjana Sanghi starrer Dil Bechara gets IMDb rating of 10.

Felt too close to reality. Hope u feel all the love Sushant. It’s like you’ve become a million stars and entered all our hearts. @CastingChhabra, Can’t imagine how difficult it must be for you to watch the film given the reality of the situation but these are ever lasting memories @DisneyPlusHS @foxstarhindi"
Meiyang Chang shared on Twitter, "Maybe it wasn't such a good idea to watch #DilBechara when the wound is still so fresh. But it had to be watched for Sushant & the magic he brought to the movies. So much feels contextual now, and I'm not an emotional man. But I couldn't stop my tears. Just breaks my heart. That he gave his craft his all is undoubted. Three scenes in particular will move you, even if you have no emotional connection with SSR. You'll see the brilliance, the spark, the honesty that's gone too soon. Let's just pray for him, ok? Let's remember his smile 🤗 #DilBechara"
Indianexpress.com's Mimansa says, "Dil Bechara is the best possible tribute Bollywood could give to Sushant Singh Rajput. We knew about The Fault in Our Stars, but never thought it'll feel so real this time. SSR wins every frame with his smile, innocence and acting. The makers have kept the best of Sushant. Sanjana Sanghi looks polished and ready for a long innings in Bollywood. The film's supporting cast including Swastika Mukherjee, Saswata Chatterjee and Sahil Vaid win hearts too. Its music by AR Rahman plays an important role in helping the film grow on you. Much to the expectation, a true treat jerker and a perfect send-off to Sushant."
"And that is the beauty of life and cinema. You live on forever.....through ur work @itsSSR #SushantSinghRajput #seri @FoxStudiosIndia @DisneyPlusHS #DilBechara," costume designer Vasuki Bhaskar said via Twitter.
