Representative imageYAMUNANAGAR: The police on Thursday booked a mining contractor under charges of attempt to murder and rioting after he allegedly opened fire on another mining contractor at his office near Kamani Chowk area under limits of Yamunanagar City police station area in Haryana.
As per the information, the matter is related to some mining royalty collection and of monetary dispute.
Manoj Wadhwa of Sector 13 Karnal lodged a complaint against Inderpal Singh alias Babbal who is brother-in-law of former Yamunanagar MLA and INLD leader Dilbagh Singh.
A case was registered against Inderpal Singh of Yamunanagar under Sections 148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapon), 149 (unlawful assembly), 307 (attempt to murder), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 25-54-59 (punishment for certain offences and renewal of licenses) of the Arms Act at Yamunanagar City police station on July 23, Thursday.
Manoj Wadhwa alleged a group of mining/royalty contractors were in the business of mining in Yamunanagar.
As per sources, Inderpal Singh is also a mining contractor and part of the group.
Yamunanagar City police station house officer (SHO) inspector Manoj Kumar said, “We have received a complaint from Inderpal Singh too and the facts of his complaint are being verified.”
