Total lockdown to start early in Coimbatore this weekend

COIMBATORE: Coimbatore district collector K Rajamani on Friday announced that the total lockdown in the district will be in force from 5pm on Saturday (July 25) till 6am on Monday (July 27).
Total lockdown is in force in Coimbatore and other parts of Tamil Nadu on all Sundays of July (from early hours of Sunday till 6am on Monday). But this time the total lockdown in Coimbatore will begin at 5pm on Saturday, instead of in the early hours of Sunday.
In a statement, Rajamani said only essential services like milk, medicines and others would be allowed. Other activities won’t be allowed in the district.
Uzhavar sandhai, markets, grocery shops, fish markets, flower markets, meat stalls, Tasmac liquor shops and any trade or other firms won’t be allowed.
“Those who violating lockdown norms will be booked,” the statement said.
Public health, revenue, local body, police department officials are working in the total lockdown period.
The collector requested the people, traders, entrepreneurs, NGOs to cooperate with the district administration to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
