A 56-year-old manager of a Mpumalanga funeral parlour is expected to appear before the Bushbuckridge Magistrate's Court for allegedly raping a 30-year-old employee.
The man, from Bushbuckridge, was arrested on Thursday for allegedly raping a 30-year-old employee at the parlour on Thursday.
According to police spokesperson Brigadier Leonard Hlathi, the woman said that she was about to go home when her manager asked her to go and buy some groceries.
When she came back, she found that her colleagues had gone home, except for the manager, who allegedly locked the main door.
"Seeing what was happening, she went to the toilet, called her husband to alert him as she was fearing for her life," Hlathi said.
"After that call, the woman went straight to her office and that's when the manager allegedly raped her."
The woman's husband arrived at the parlour in response to her earlier call and she told him what had happened.
"The matter was then reported to the police, where a case of rape was opened."
The woman indicated that it was not the first time that the manager had raped her. She told police that, in 2019, he hasd raped her twice in the bushes around Acornhoek.
The man was arrested and is due to appear in court on Friday.
