Covid-19: Tamil Nadu reports 88 more deaths

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu on Tuesday reported deaths of 88 Covid-19 patients even as 6,785 more people tested positive for the viral infection.
The death toll rose to 3,320 while the total number of active cases reached 53,132. The state’s total tally is at 1,99,749.
As many as 6,504 patients were discharged on Tuesday. It takes the total number of discharged patients to 1,43,297.
Chennai ’s daily cases continue to stay stable. The city accounted for 1,299 of the fresh cases which took its total confirmed cases to 92,206. As many as 13,743 people are under treatment in the city.
Chennai’s three neighbouring districts recorded a total of 1,116 cases. They include 419 cases in Chengalpet, 349 in Kancheepuram and 378 in Tiruvallur.
Other districts that reported more than 200 cases include Virudhunagar at 424, Trichy 217, Tuticorin 313, Theni 234, Ranipet 222, Madurai 326 and Kanyakumari 266.
Eight districts reported cases between 100 and 200. They include Coimbatore 189, Tirunelveli 171 and Vellore 174.
Among those who tested positive, 18 were passengers who returned from abroad in flights. Nine passengers returned from other states in domestic flights while 29 passengers returned from other states by road.
