
State-run retailers such as Indian Oil review petrol and diesel rates on a daily basis
Domestic petrol and diesel prices were left unchanged at existing levels on Friday. Currently, state-run oil marketing companies such as Indian Oil Corporation reviews the prices of petrol and diesel on a daily basis, to bring them at par with global crude oil rates. Any revisions are implemented at fuel stations with effect from 6 am. Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum Corporation and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation account for the majority of petrol and diesel pumps in the country. In Delhi, the price of petrol stood at Rs 80.43 per litre and that of diesel at Rs 81.64. In a rare incidence, diesel continues to be more expensive compared to petrol in the national capital for past few weeks.
In Mumbai, the prices of petrol and diesel remained unchanged at Rs 87.19 per litre and Rs 79.83 per litre respectively.

The prices of petrol and diesel vary from state to state due to value added tax (VAT).
Meanwhile, international oil prices were flat on Friday as support from a weaker dollar was offset by tensions between the US and China. Brent crude futures - the global benchmark for crude oil - were last seen quoting at $43.30 per barrel.
