GANDHINAGAR:
Ahmed Patel, national treasurer of all India Congress party and Rajya Sabha MP from Gujarat, in a tweet raised the issue of “higher death rate” in Gujarat due Covid-19. “At 4.4%, Gujarat’s Covid-19 mortality rate is very high. Why?” Patel tweeted.
He alleged that Gujarat is not testing enough and testing late. “There is a delay in identifying positive patients. Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Delhi are conducting far more tests. The infection has spread to rural areas where adequate medical facilities are absent,” he said.
Patel alleged that people have to travel to other districts for help and are doing so at later stages of the infection. The state government needs to be open and transparent, he said on social media.
