Billionaire Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos’s net worth is now more than the market valuation of global giants like Nike, McDonald’s Corp, Mobil Corp, Exxon and more.

Even after losing a staggering $6.29 billion, the net worth of the world’s richest man stands at $178 billion on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

Bezos has added a staggering $62.7 billion to his net worth in 2020, propelled by demand for online retail during the coronavirus pandemic.

Just a few days ago, the billionaire’s wealth surged by a record $13 billion and was the biggest single-day jump in net worth since the Bloomberg Billionaires Index was created in 2012.

The reason behind the sharp jump in net worth was a result of Amazon’s shares surging nearly 8 per cent — the most since December 2018.

Bezos net worth is approximately $60 billion more than Bill Gates, who occupies second place on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. French billionaire Bernard Arnault is placed third on the list, followed by Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg.

The new entrant among the elite list of billionaires in India’s Mukesh Ambani, who is the chairman of Reliance Industries Limited. Ambani is placed fifth on the index and his net worth is currently $77.4 billion, just $10 billion less than Zuckerberg.
