HYDERABAD:
Telangana recorded nine deaths and 1,567 new cases of Covid-19 as the overall caseload rose to 50, 826 and the death toll touched 447 on Thursday.
The state has 11,952 active cases, about 22 per cent of the total
coronavirus caseload, while the remaining 77 per cent have recovered and about 0.87 per cent (less than 1 per cent) have succumbed to the novel coronavirus.
Authorities said they have tested 13,367 samples on Thursday, totalling 3.2 lakh samples so far in the state.
Even as cases continue to surge in districts across the state, the latest being in Adilabad, Mulugu, Nagarkurnool and Jangaon, the numbers came down in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation area.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation area saw 662 new cases on Thursday, while districts surrounding the GHMC limits, including Medchal, Rangareddy, Medak, Sangareddy and Warangal together registered nearly 450 cases.
Mahabubabad, Karimnagar, Nalgonda, Rajanna-Siricilla and Nizamabad continued to see an upward swing in the number of cases.
Even as state health authorities have sounded an alert over an increasing number of cases in rural areas, 31 of the 33 districts in the state recorded new cases on Thursday.
Authorities have urged people to seek medical help in case of any flu-like symptoms such as cough, sore throat, runny nose, fever, difficulty in breathing, body pain and headache.
Cases have been rising rampantly in the state despite government and administrative efforts to check the spread of coronavirus in the state.
