NASHIK: A four-year-old female leopard, which fell into an agricultural well at Chadegaon village near Nashik Road area of the city in early hours on Friday, was rescued by forest officials. According to officials, the leopard may have slipped into the well while in search of a prey.
The villagers informed the forest officials after they spotted the animal after the heard the road of the big cat from the well. Forest officials immediately rushed to the rushed to the spot in the morning and rescued the leopard.

Forest officials started rescue operations immediately after they reached the spot. They rescued the animal after two hours operations with the help of the cage.
"We immediately conducted a medical check-up of the big cat and found it to be physically fit. We will soon release the animal after the necessary official procedure," said forest officials.
There have been several incidents of leopards being spotted in Chadegaon, Deolali, Donwade, Babhaleshwar and Samangaon village belt in the past three months.
The forest department has installed 17 cages at various places in Donwade, Babhaleshwar and Samangaon village belt due to presence of leopards in the areas.
This is the fifth leopard rescued by the forest officials during the last 24 days in Niphad and Nashik talukas of the district.
Recently on July 20, a one-and-a-half year old female leopard was trapped in the cage in Palse village, a few kms from Nashik Road area of the city.
Earlier on July 2, a five-year-old female leopard was trapped in the cage in Jakhori village, around eight kms from Nashik Road area, while a six-year old male leopard was trapped at Samangaon village in Nashik taluka on July 13. Another male leopard was trapped in the cage two days after on July 15 at Kolgaon village in Niphad taluka of the district.
