O PanneerselvamCHENNAI: Tamil Nadu deputy chief minister O Panneerselvam, who holds housing and urban development portfolio, on Friday reviewed projects executed by Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA), including progress of two mofussil bus termini at Kilambakkam and Thirumazhisai.
While works for Kilambakkam project, estimated at Rs 393 crore, commenced on the GST Road for southbound fleets, the government now identified land at Thirumazhisai to set up the facility for buses heading towards western districts.
An official source said CMDA officials were directed to complete the construction of Kilambakkam bus terminus. As far as Thirumazhisai is concerned, the 20acre land has already been earmarked for the mofussil bus terminus in Kuthambakkam village. The village is part of Thirumazhisai Satellite Township on the Chennai-Bengaluru highway that is situated about 30km west to the city in Tiruvallur district.
The land belonged to Tamil Nadu Housing Board and a portion of it was used as wholesale vegetable market temporarily following the Covid-19 outbreak in Koyambedu.
In the meeting, CMDA was urged to speed up planning permissions for the project, added the source.
