Chennai: Tamil Nadu has detected 6,785 fresh Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, recording highest-ever single day spike yet. The over all number is marginally close to 2 lakh. The total cases stands at 1,99,749.
The state has reached a new high in death toll also. It has registered 88 fatalities in a single day, which is the highest so far. The total number of death toll in the state has risen to 3,320.
As of today, the active cases in the state stands at 53,132. On the positive side, 6,504 patients have been discharged from various hospitals in the state after treatment.

Districts such as Thiruvallur and Kanchipuram registered 378 and 349 cases respectively. Chengalpet recorded 419 fresh Covid cases.
The number of Covid-19 cases between the age of 0-12 has risen to 10,006 in the state.
