NIPER holds 8th e-convocation; 270 students awarded degrees

HYDERABAD: Total 270 students graduated from the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) during its eighth e-convocation held in the city on Friday.
In the current pandemic, KT Rama Rao, cabinet minister of Telangana government, who attended the event as the chief guest, said that pharmaceutical professionals will play a pivotal role in the healthcare industry globally.
Highlighting Hyderabad’s feat as vaccine capital of the world manufacturing more than two billion doses of vaccines every year and contributing to one third of the global vaccine outputs, he said – “We have more than 800 life sciences companies and this sector currently employs 120,000 pharmaceutical professionals… The new Pharma City will help us to create 1,70,000 jobs for pharma professionals like you.” He encouraged students to pursue entrepreneurial opportunities and become job creators.
In his address, K Satish Reddy, board of governors chairman, NIPER detailed about several transformational changes which the pharmaceutical industry is undergoing in this pandemic situation and mentioned about the several challenging opportunities the students will have in this changed scenario.
The 270 graduates included 198 MS Pharm students, 57 MBA Pharm, 24 PhD scholars of the last two academic years (2017-2019 and 2018-2020).
