BENGALURU: Chickpet, Bengaluru's retail hub, will reopen on Wednesday after being shut for nearly a month. However, Kalasipalya market and KR Market will remain shut until further orders.
BBMP commissioner N Manjunath Prasad said Chickpet, Cottonpet and other trading areas will remain open. The decision follows appeals from traders, who have suffered huge losses ever since the hub was shut on June 25 following a spike in Covid-19 cases.
Sajjan Raj Mehta, a trader in Chickpet, said they will follow the government's guidelines. "Most traders have shut shop since June 25, but cases have been rising in the past few weeks. It's unfair to blame traders for the surge in Covid-19 cases," he added.
