The state on Wednesday registered 149 fresh cases of COVID-19 and three deaths associated with the deadly disease.
The three, who succumbed to the deadly virus, include a 50-year-old man from Fatorda with co-morbid conditions, a 52-year-old man from Bogda in Vasco, who was admitted to the Goa Medical College and Hospital at Bambolim, and a 72-year-old man from Mangor-Hill in Vasco, who was a diabetic and had undergone a surgery earlier.
The 50-year-old man from Fatorda and the 72-year-old man from Mangor Hill died while undergoing treatment at the Margao-based COVID hospital.
According to the media bulletin issued by the directorate of health services (DHS), around 92 COVID patients have been declared cured in the last 24 hours.
With the surge in positive cases and the recoveries, the confirmed cases currently stand at 4,176 of which 1,607 are active, while 2,541 patients have defeated the deadly disease. Till date, the state has witnessed 29 COVID deaths of which 16 alone are from the port town of Vasco, which has been the worst affected by the pandemic in the state.
As per the DHS, the 1,607 active cases include 129 persons, who travelled to Goa from outside by road, rail and air.
A majority of the active COVID cases in Goa fall under the jurisdiction of primary health centre of Cortalim with 377 cases, urban health centre of Vasco has 374 cases, while the community health centre Sankhali has 92 cases and PHC at Chimbel has recorded 72 cases within its jurisdiction.
The CHCs from where the cases are emerging are Bicholim (4), Pernem (26), Valpoi (6), Curchorem (15) and Canacona (9). The other UHCs include Mapusa (61), Panaji (38) and Margao (67).
The COVID cases are also surfacing from the jurisdiction of PHCs that include Aldona (1), Betki (14), Candolim (11), Cansarvanem (18), Colvale (37), Corlim (25), Siolim (9), Porvorim (23), Mayem (1), Balli (9), Cansaulim (9), Chinchinim (2), Curtorim (19), Loutolim (8), Marcaim (8), Quepem (11), Shiroda (10), Dharbandora (46), Ponda (57), and Navelim (19).
Fortunately, the PHC at Sanguem has no active cases within its jurisdiction.
