The Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday raided the properties owned by Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot’s brother in connection with alleged fertiliser scam.
The ED began nationwide searches in the fertiliser scam on Wednesday morning. These included searches in premises of Agrasen Gehlot. Agrasen is the elder brother of Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.
In 2017, the BJP had alleged that dragged Ashok Gehlot’s brother into an alleged ‘fertiliser scam’. The BJP accused Gehlot’s brother of exporting subsidised fertiliser between 2007 and 2009 when the UPA government was in power.
The Income Tax Department had last week conducted searches in Jaipur in connection with a tax evasion case against a Rajasthan-based hydropower infrastructure company and some linked business groups. Follow Live Updates Here
Officials had said the action was taken on the basis of inputs of huge cash transactions taking place and the business group's alleged links to these transactions.
At the time of the I-T raids, Rajasthan had started witnessing an intense power tussle between Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and his then deputy Sachin Pilot.
Rajasthan government chief whip Mahesh Joshi had condemned the I-T raids on premises linked to two Congress leaders.
The premises were linked to Congress leaders Rajiv Arora and Dharmendra Rathore.
