RajinikanthCHENNAI: Actor Rajinikanth on Wednesday praised the Tamil Nadu government for acting swiftly against those involved in denigrating Kandha Sashti Kavasam, a hymn in praise of Lord Murugan, and getting the videos removed from YouTube.
“I appreciate the swift action against people, who denigrated Kandha Sashti Kavasam, recited by millions of Tamilians, to a level that people will not be able to forget it in their lifetime, and removing the videos,” Rajinikanth said.
“At least henceforth, let there be an end to religious hatred and demeaning of gods. It should end,” Rajinikanth tweeted.
Saying all religions are acceptable, Rajinikanth signed concluded his tweet with ‘Kandhanukku Arohara’ (In praise of Lord Muruga).
Karuppar Koottam, a YouTube channel run by a little known Dravidian outfit, had a featured a denigrated version of Kandha Sashti Kavasam.. It led to an outcry and all round condemnation. While the Tamil Nadu government got YouTube to remove the controversial videos, the state police booked cases against members of the outfit.
