BJP: Cong shouldn't criticise govt at this hour

GUWAHATI: Assam BJP has accused Congress of playing politics with floods and Covid-19 at a time when the state is going through a very difficult phase. His statement comes at a time when Congress has been accusing the BJP-led government of not doing enough for the flood affected people in the state.
State BJP spokesperson Jayanta Malla Baruah, while lauding the BJP-led government at the Centre for releasing Rs 386 crore before the floods wreaked havoc in the state, lashed out at Congress for allegedly not offering a helping hand to the government's efforts to handle the twin crisis.
According to Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) sources, a total allocation of Rs 85,800 lakh has been made as per recommendation of 15th Finance Commission for the year 2020-2021, where the the Centre's share is Rs 77,200 lakh and the state's share is Rs 8,600 lakh. For the first instalment of the Centre's share, Rs 386 crore was received by Assam.
"We appeal to Congress and others to stop publicity stunts and assist the government and administration at this hour of crisis by rising above party politics," said Baruah, adding that Congress has no moral right to ask questions over Assam floods after it ruled the country for many years since Independence.
