Congress demands Telangana CM to make details of new Secretariat complex public

Former minister Mohammed Ali Shabbir of Congress
HYDERABAD: The Congress on Wednesday demanded that chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao place the final-approved designs of the new integrated Secretariat complex in public domain and to reassure the people that places of worship would be reconstructed on its original site.
“Also, the people of Telangana have a right to know what this new secretariat complex would look like from inside and its facilities as the state administration will be delivered from this building. It is being built with public money and all its designs and details should be kept in public domain,” demanded former minister Mohammed Ali Shabbir of the Congress.
He condemned the silence of CM KCR over the demand made by the Congress for reconstruction of the places of worship on their original sites.
"Though the CM apologised for the demolition of places of worship and said a new mosque and a temple would be constructed, he has not clarified whether these places of worship would be constructed on their original sites,” said Shabbir Ali.
Referring to CM KCR’s review meeting held on Tuesday to finalise the designs for the new secretariat complex, Shabbir Ali said the press release sent by the chief minister’s office did not mention a word about re-construction of places of worship.
"The demolition of places of worship was deliberate and planned, and not accidental as stated by CM KCR in his statement. "There is no question of shifting the mosque to other location. We cannot support construction of any building by demolishing the places of worship," Shabbir Ali said.
He also condemned the stand taken by MIM President and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi and said the people will never forgive him for supporting CM KCR over demolition of mosques. The Congress would soon announce a series of agitations against the demolition of places of worship, he added.
