BENGALURU: Fearing hoarding of antiviral drugs in the backdrop of a surge in Covid cases, the Karnataka government on Tuesday said it will start regulating the supply of Remdesivir to private hospitals.
Remdesivir, a drug with potential to bring down viral load in patients and expedite recovery, is being administered on critical Covid patients. Though the drug is meant for hospital supply, there have been reports about the same being black-marketed. Medical education minister K Sudhakar said: “A decision has been taken to supply Remdesivir, which is currently available in government hospitals, to private hospitals through the government. This will curb black-marketing of the drug.”
