PATIALA: Nabha jailbreak alleged gangster Kulpreet Singh alias Neeta Deol who was booked for attempting suicide inside jail a few days back, on Wednesday submitted in the court that he had not attempted suicide rather the jail officials had tortured him physically.
Harpreet Singh, advocate for Neeta Deol, said, that Neeta was tortured by the jail officials and some cops from outside jail. He said that an appeal in the court has been filed to get preserved the videography of the cameras installed inside Nabha New jail on July 18 when the jail authorities had shown Neeta Deol of attempting suicide by hanging himself with a ceiling fan by using his turban cloth. The jail officials claimed Neeta had not kept long hair but used to tie turban while visiting Gurudwara inside Jail premises.
“Neeta Deol has clearly explained before the court that he was physically tortured by the jail officials who did not even get conducted his medical examination in order to conceal his injuries. The court had asked the officials to reply over this matter. We had pleaded the court to get preserved the videography on Saturday inside New jail Nabha as many surprising facts could come out of it. The police had wrongly shown a woman as the wife of Neeta Deol in a mobile recovery case registered in March this year in which two jail officials were also suspended over their alleged involvement in supplying mobiles to jail inmates. Neeta has no relation with the accused woman who is recently arrested by the police in this case registered in March 2020. All this is being done to manipulate the things against Neeta Deol only to keep him behind the bars by implicating him in false cases”, Neeta’s counsel Harpreet Singh.
He added that one more case was registered against Neeta under the Prisons Act on Friday after a mobile recovery was shown from him whereas in March this year he was implicated in case of cops suspended for supplying mobiles to inmates.
IS Kahlon, deputy superintendent New Nabha Jail, refuted allegations and said, “We have got conducted the medical examination of accused Neeta Deol. He wasn’t tortured. We had mentioned in the FIR that Neeta claimed he was under stress after his wife was also booked recently by the police during investigation in a mobile recovery case registered in March this year. On Wednesday, he was brought to the court on Production Warrant in suicide attempt case. Less than a week ago Neeta was booked in another mobile recovery case in which a Redmi phone was recovered from him during checking conducted by Assistant Jail Superintendent Sharif Mohammad.”
