Over 25,000 apply online for Pune university courses

PUNE: Over 25,000 application forms have been received by the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) for various degree and certificate courses in 53 departments.

The applications were for 6,000 seats. The process opened online on June 1and 10,000 more applications are expected by deadline on August 10.
The courses run under the science faculty have found a maximum response from students, Uttam Chavan, deputy registrar, academic admission department, SPPU said.
The university was prepared for a slight slump in admissions but the present number has already crossed the annual number of applications. “We usually have about 25,000 applications each year at the end of the deadline. This year, in fact, we have 20 more days to go and we are expecting 10,000 more applications,” Chavan added.
The entire application process has been made online by the university and students can visit the site dedicated for admissions and fill up their details.
The process started on June 1by the university. The university has started many undergraduate courses which, Chavan said, has also received huge response. He said a number of students from outside Pune has also been encouraging.
