Across Europe, the responsible reviving of tourism is now in progress. However, although there are growing numbers of tourists crossing borders and businesses are starting to reopen again, one shouldn’t be contented.
Words of support are not enough for tourism recovery. Concrete actions are required. For the UNWTO, Member States need to be supported along with the wider tourism sector and this is important for adaptation and transition towards a stronger and sustainable future.
The restart of tourism can assist the global community get back on track and working together will fulfill the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The UNWTO Sustainable Development Goals Startup Competition, launched this week will identify new ideas with the power and possibility to reimagine tourism and increase the sector’s positive impact on people and planet.
The UNWTO offers full support to Spain, along with other Member States. It will continue to work closely with the Spanish government so that tourism remains a tool for economic recovery and social cohesion.
