Covid-19: Kalyan-Dombivli crosses 17k cases, lockdown relaxed in Ulhasnagar

KALYAN: The Kalyan-Dombivli which has become hotspot for Covid-19 patients in Mumbai Metropolitan Region region barring Mumbai on Wednesday crossed 17,000 mark of coronavirus cases.
Meanwhile neighbouring Ulhasnagar city which is also witnessing rise in Covid-19 cases crossed 6,000 cases o Wednesday. The Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation (UMC) on Wednesday relaxed relaxed lockdown on formula of P1 and P2. The UMC like other civic bodies in Thane district has also imposed curbs on 21 Covid-19 hotspots areas till July 31.
The Ulhasnagar on Wednesday has reported 151 new patients and five death taking total numbers of patients 6,017 including 97 deaths so far. An activist Moti Ludhwani from Ulhasnagar demanded that UMC should start survey and testing of Covid suspects in city at large scale like Dharavi area in Mumbai which is recently assured by UMC chief Dr Raja Dayanidhi.
The Kalyan-Dombivli meanwhile on Wednesday reported 427 new fresh Covid-19 patients and 8 deaths taking total number of patients to 17,023 in the region including total 272 deaths so far.
The health department officials of KDMC said that on Wednesday they also discharged 429 patients taking the total number of discharged patients to 10,857 in while remaining 5,894 active patients still gwtting treatment in hospitals.
