A young man and fitness expert has followed the diet behind Hugh Jackman's sculpted Wolverine physique for one day, eating 4,000 'clean calories' (16,736 kilojoules) within just eight hours.
Aseel Soueid, 24, from the US, found that in order to get in shape for the role, Hugh had to eat six 'strict' calorie-dense meals within an eight-hour feeding window, and 'pretty much nothing fun'.
'I am going to eat like Hugh Jackman for a day, so I am going to be attempting a day in the diet of Wolverine,' Aseel said in a YouTube video.
'Today's diet is going to be a serious challenge... as this guy is absolutely insane.'

Aseel Soueid , 24, found that in order to get in shape for the role, Hugh had to eat six 'strict' calorie-dense meals within an eight-hour feeding window (Hugh pictured as Wolverine)

Aseel said on the Australian actor's diet, he didn't have his first meal until 2pm, upon which point he breaks a 16-hour fast and ate two eggs and some oatmeal with blueberries (pictured)
MEAL ONE: 2pm
Aseel said on the Australian actor's diet, he didn't have his first meal until 2pm, upon which point he broke a 16-hour fast.
'Today's eating window is going to be from 2pm until 10pm, so eight hours,' Aseel explained.
His first meal consisted of two whole eggs, a cup of oatmeal and a cup of blueberries poured on top.
'There is protein in every meal to make sure I hit the goals,' Assel said.
This particular meal had 524 calories in total, as well as 75 grams of carbs, 16 grams of fat and 23 grams of protein.
TOTAL = 524 calories

Aseel said to get a body like Hugh's in Wolverine (pictured), it's all about training and eating smart rather than hard, and including protein within every meal and snack

Meal two was a giant 'pre-workout meal', consisting of one sweet potato, a cup of broccoli and a 10-ounce sirloin steak, as well as a Greek salad with olive oil on the side (pictured)
MEAL TWO: 3pm
As soon as Aseel had finished his 'breakfast', he said it was time to start cooking the 'pre-workout meal'.
This calorie-dense meal included one sweet potato, a cup of broccoli and a 10-ounce sirloin steak.
It also featured a Greek salad with lettuce, tomatoes, Feta cheese, olives, peppers and a tablespoon of olive oil to boost his fat content.
'This is a calorie-packed meal,' Aseel said.
The meal has 1,071 calories, 58 grams of carbs, 65 grams of fat and 66 grams of protein.
When it comes to intermittent fasting, Aseel explained that it is a great strategy should you have strict weight loss goals.
'Honestly, it has been one of the best things that I have ever implemented into my daily diet, just because it allows me to control my appetite and manage my calories in a strategic way,' he said.
TOTAL = 1,071 calories
MEAL THREE: 5pm
Following a heavy one-hour weights session in the gym, Aseel said he got home and immediately started to prepare his third meal.
'Meal three is the post-workout meal and it consists of six ounces of boneless, skinless chicken breast, one cup of brown rice and also the same amount of Greek salad as earlier, with the tablespoon of olive oil,' he said.
'This is another high calorie, energy-dense meal, and this might be where things get tricky in terms of feeling full due to the small eating window and all of the foods I need to fit in.'
This meal included 767 calories, 56 grams of carbohydrates, 38 grams of fat and 51 grams of protein.
TOTAL = 767 calories

Meal four is two servings of mixed nuts (pictured), as well as one scoop of his Cookies and Cream Whey Protein Powder with water
MEAL FOUR: 7pm
The fourth meal in Hugh Jackman's Wolverine diet is more like a large, energy-dense snack.
Aseel said for this, he poured out two servings of mixed nuts and enjoyed them with one scoop of his Cookies and Cream Whey Protein Powder with water.
The particular protein powder that the fitness expert uses has 25 grams of protein, with only 120 calories.
This meant that he was able to eat 460 calories, 15 grams of carbs, 33 grams of fat and 35 grams of protein despite not feeling like he was eating too much.
TOTAL = 460 calories

The fifth meal consisted of cooked tilapia fish, one cup of steamed broccoli, 100 grams of avocado and another Greek salad with a tablespoon of olive oil (pictured)
MEAL FIVE: 8pm
By this stage in the daily diet, Aseel said he was struggling to keep the meals down.
The fifth meal consisted of cooked tilapia fish, one cup of steamed broccoli, 100 grams of avocado and another Greek salad with a tablespoon of olive oil.
'The reason for including this all the time is to help boost up the veggies and fat in each meal,' he said.
'Hugh Jackman didn't just train and eat hard, but he did it smartly. You don't always have to train more and eat less. You just need to know exactly what you're doing.'
This meal contained 716 calories, with 25 grams of carbs, 50 grams of fat and 53 grams of protein.
TOTAL = 716 calories

Aseel said it must have been difficult for Australian actor Hugh (pictured) to follow the diet day in and day out, as it's such a short feeding window
MEAL SIX: 9.30pm
The sixth and final meal was another energy-dense snack-like meal.
Again, it was another two servings of the mixed nuts.
'It's a really good thing that nuts are so calorie-dense, as I couldn't manage another 400-calorie meal right now,' Aseel said.
The nuts alone had 340 calories, 12 grams of carbs, 32 grams of fat and 10 grams of protein.
TOTAL = 340 calories

'The total macros in Hugh's meals is 3,878 calories, 241 grams of carbs, 234 grams of fat and 238 grams of protein, but I felt like I ate well over 5,000 calories today,' Aseel (pictured) said
REFLECTIONS
While eating like Hugh Jackman's Wolverine was hard, Aseel said the most difficult part was the eating window.
'The total macros in Hugh's meals is 3,878 calories, 241 grams of carbs, 234 grams of fat and 238 grams of protein, but I felt like I ate well over 5,000 calories today,' he said.
'This is because if you pair up intermittent fasting with a tonne of nutritious, calorie-dense meals, it's going to feel like you're eating a lot more than you are.'
Aseel's advice for others wanting a body like Wolverine's is that they set their own calorie intake and their own personalised carb, protein and fat intake.
'It's only this way that you'll achieve your goals,' he added.
