COVID-19: Delhi airport declares seven-day institutional quarantine for passengers

The Delhi airport authority in its latest guidelines made it compulsory for all international passengers arriving here to undergo seven-day quarantine on Tuesday.

The passengers have to undergo seven-day institutional quarantine at their own cost is a must, followed by a week of home quarantine.

An undertaking accepting this procedure must be signed by the passengers, which would be maintained by the overseas embassy/mission before the booking is confirmed.

According to the guidelines, passengers planning to stay in Delhi- NCR will have to go through a series of health checkups by the airport health officials and then at the Delhi government post. They would be allowed to go to their location only after two levels of screening.

The guideline states that exception would be provided with proper documentation to pregnant women, those who suffered death in the family, those suffering from serious illness and parents of children below 10. An email address is also provided as to when undertaking should be provided for passengers exempted.

The Indian air space was closed in March that only functions to rescue Indians stranded overseas is operated from India as per the Vande Bharat Mission. As per the guidelines, passengers arriving via the international Vande Bharat Mission flight can take a connecting domestic flight only if it is under the Vande Bharat Mission.

In case of travelling through non- Vande Bharat international flights, passengers who want to take a connecting domestic flight would have to obtain an authorised exemption certificate.

The Delhi government has extended the ban on international flights from July 15 to July 31, while the domestic flights resumed operation from May 25 after suspension for two months.
