P Krishnamoorthy,48, who led a series of
Covid-19 disinfection work at various places in Coimbatore city and rural areas, died at his residence in Peelamedu on Tuesday morning.
Krishnamoorthy’s family members reside in t the Erode district while Krishnamoorthy lived in a house near the Peelamedu fire station. On Tuesday morning, he inspected a training programme for newly recruited firemen at a private college in Saravanampatti.
After jogging for 10.6km on the college campus, Krishnamoorthy returned home around 8am and suddenly collapsed.
His neighbours took him to a nearby hospital where doctors declared that he was brought dead.
Doctors suspect that he might have died of cardiac arrest.
The body was sent to the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) for postmortem and the cause of the death was yet to be ascertained.
CMCH doctors have taken swab samples from Krishnamoorthy to check if he was Covid-19 positive. The postmortem is expected to be carried out only after the test results arrive on Wednesday.
