Testing camps to continue, Noida seeks 1 lakh antigen kits

NOIDA/GHAZIABAD: As many as 107 people tested positive for Covid-19 in Gautam Budh Nagar on Monday. The district reported one death, taking the toll to 40.
Meanwhile, 68 were discharged in the past 24 hours. There are 1,011 active cases in the district now. With a recovery rate of 75.2% and case fatality rate of 0.94%, the district’s total number of cases stands at 4,251.
The administration has decided to continue its walk-in antigen testing drive at five camps across the city till July 24. Under the drive, areas like Arun Vihar, juvenile home in phase 2, Amrapali Princely Estate in Sector 76, Cleo County in Sector 121, Jaypee Cosmos in Sector 134, JM Orchid in Sector 76, and others will be covered.
Testing camps will also be set up in rural areas like Garhi Chaukhandi, Harola Sector 5 and Yakubpur. Officials said that over 3,000 antigen tests are being done daily.
“We have asked the state and Union governments for one lakh antigen testing kits. We are intensifying testing across the district, but there is a limit up to which the RT-PCR tests can be increased,” said Suhas LY, district magistrate of Noida.
The containment zones in the district have also been revised and reduced to 252 now — most from urban areas.
Meanwhile, 70 new Covid cases were added to Ghaziabad’s tally on Monday. The total number of cases in the district stands at 4,048 and the death toll is 63. There are 1,306 active cases in Ghaziabad.
Ghaziabad DM Ajay Shankar Pandey has constituted a committee under the CMO to discuss new treatment protocols and medicines. The CMO will ensure compliance with the guidelines issued by the ICMR and the Centre so that doctors get information about the medicines.
Moreover, a plan has been devised by the district administration to curb infection in 21 containment zones with 10 or more positive cases. The ADM City has been directed to oversee the campaign and each incident commander in the respective area has been designated as the nodal officer. Two teams each will be deployed in these containment zones for carrying out door to door survey.
