
Punjab Board PSEB 12th Result 2020 HIGHLIGHTS: The Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) announced the result of class 12 exam on Tuesday, July 21. The result is now available at the website- pseb.ac.in. Out of the 2.9 lakh students, 90.98 per cent students have passed it. This is a huge rise from 2019’s performance, when the passing percentage was recorded at 86.41.
The hike could also be cited in the new result formulae. For the exams which could not take place due to the coronavirus pandemic, marks were given on the basis of the average of best of three papers which were conducted.
Punjab Board claims that their government schools have shown more improvement than those of Delhi. “The improvement in the pass percentage of the Punjab govt. schools this year is even better than the government schools of Delhi,” the board read in the official statement.

While the pass percentage in the government schools of Delhi improved by 3.76 per cent, it saw an improvement by 6.18 per cent in Punjab as compared to last year.
The district Ropar has topped the list by achieving 96.93 pass percentage. The pass percentage of district Faridkot and Ferozepur with 96.61 and 95.68 pass percentage has been placed in the second and third place respectively
In March 2018, when the copying was curbed strictly, the overall pass percentage had come down to 65.97 %, but it succeeded in bringing a change in the mindset that there would be no compromise with the quality education, said the Education Secretary cum Chairman, PSEB, Krishan Kumar, while giving credit to the teachers who had been exerting their nerves to implement the various quality improvement projects envisaged by the Education Department at the cutting edge level with utmost zeal and dedication for the past three years.
As many as 2,65,449 students appeared for the +2 examination as regular candidates while 20229 appeared as Open School candidates. The overall pass percentage of the regular candidates is 92.77 % and that those of Open School candidates is 68.26 %. Similarly, the pass percentage of girls is 94.83 % against the 90.99 % of boys. The pass percentage of the students of rural area schools is 93.39 % and the students of urban area schools is 91.96 %.

Barnala was the lest performing district with a pass percentage of 84.69 per cent. The second and third-last districts were Mansa at 89.80 and Ludhiana at 89.99. Ludhiana had given the top performers last year.
The pass percentage is the highest in science with 94.82 per cent students clearing the exam. Among the science stream, non-medical students recorded a pass percentage of 95.36 per cent and medical students were at 93.80 per cent. Followed by humanities at 92.87 per cent and commerce at 91.05. The least pass percentage was observed in vocational courses with 88.81 per cent.
The pass percentage is at a three year high. From 65.97 per cent in 2018, 86.41 per cent in 2019 to now 90.98 per cent, the number of students clearing Punjab Board class 12 has been increasing consistently.
The students from rural area outperformed that of urban with 93.39 per cent. The pass percentage of urban area is 91.96 per cent
A total of 2.46 lakh (2,46,259) regular category students passed the class 12 exam recording a pass percentge of 92.77 per cent. The pass percentge of open category students is 68.26 per cent
The government schools have performed well with a pass percentage of 94.32 percent. The pass percentage of aided schools is 91.03 per cent, associated schools- 87.04 per cent, affiliated schools- 91.84 per cent.
The pass percentage in the medical category is 93.80 per cent, while 95.36 per cent in the non-medical category

This year, there is no topper of the Punjab Board, PSEB. The board has not released merit list this year
The Science stream has secured the highest pass percentage of 94.82 per cent, while 92.87 per cent passed in Humanities and 91.05 per cent in Commerce. The pass percentage in Vocational stream touched at 88.81 per cent.
The girls have outperformed their male counterpart with 94.83 per cent. The pass percentage of boys is 90.99 per cent
