Heavy rain lashed Delhi Tuesday afternoon. The weather office has warned of thunderstorm with moderate to heavy rain and wind speed of 25-55 kilometre per hour at many places of the national capital, Manesar, Gurugram, Sohna, Nuh, Palwal, Faridabad, Ballabhgarh, Noida, and Karnal.

Several parts of Delhi including Vijay Chowk, Moti Bagh, Daryaganj, Dwarka and India Gate received sharp showers today.

According to the latest alert, tweeted by the Met office, Panipat, Kaithal, Kurukshetra, Khatauli, Meerut, Modinagar, Hapur, Rohtak, Bhiwani, Mahendergarh, Kosli, Sonipat, Bagpat and other areas will get moderate rain in the next two hours.

"Fairly widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy showers very likely over Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh during the next two days," the weather office said, adding that the intensity and distribution of rainfall are very likely to decrease after that.

The convergence of moist easterly winds from the Bay of Bengal and southwesterly winds from the Arabian Sea is likely to continue over northwest India for another two-three days, weather experts said.

On Sunday, the city saw the first heavy monsoon showers, which claimed four lives, including that of a mini-truck driver who got trapped in a waterlogged underpass. According to the India Meteorological Department, the Safdarjung Observatory had recorded nearly 75 mm rainfall on Sunday.
