RALEIGH, N.C., July 21, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- The North Carolina Cyber Academy (NCCA), will begin the 2020-2021 school year on August 24, 2020 as scheduled. The COVID-19 crisis, which has caused interruptions in traditional school calendars, has not had a significant impact on NCCA. The school did not have to shut down in March, because instruction is already 100% online. In-person contact over the years has been encouraged, but not required except during testing.
NCCA is one of the two statewide virtual schools chartered by the state of North Carolina in 2015. This fully accredited kindergarten through 12th grade public school is tuition-free, open to all residents of the state and employs only North Carolina licensed teachers.
Many students enrolled at NCCA have special needs related to schedule, curriculum, or other demands on their time. NCCA has served professional athletes, dancers, actors, as well as students who cannot attend brick and mortar schools due to health reasons. NCCA also serves those who desire an accelerated education for early college entrance.
Enrolling at NCCA is similar to enrolling at any public school. The application process is online at MyNCCA.com. Each enrollee in grades K through 12 receives a laptop computer and online support for setup and online assistance throughout the school year.
The mission of NCCA is to empower children with knowledge, skills, and character traits to be successful in their education through an engaging, personalized learning experience in a full-time virtual school. Find out more at MyNCCA.com.
