CTTC manufactures parts of Covid test kits from Andhra

BHUBANESWAR: The Central Tool Room and Training Centre (CTTC) Bhubaneswar, run by the Union ministry of micro, small and medium enterprises, has manufactured vital components of Covid-19 testing kits for Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone Limited (AMTZ) based in Visakhapatnam.
The AMTZ, an enterprise of the Andhra government, had requested CTTC to make the vital components for Covid testing kits. The training centre has already supplied parts for 600 testing kits.
CTTC Bhubaneswar general manager (in-charge) L Raj Sekhar said his centre had manufactured 21 critical components per every test kit. “Components manufactured at CTTC are part of a diagnostic device named TruePrep, developed by the company for Covid-19 testing,” he added.
He said the AMTZ had reached out to them after the TruePrep device got government approval for Covid-19 testing. “There was an urgent need to ramp up production of devices to quickly deploy them in the market for coronavirus testing. So we worked for two months on the project and supplied the parts on June 30,” he added.
The TruePrep machine is portable, battery-operated, automatic and can be handled with minimal training. It is light-weight, rechargeable, and ready-to-use and can work without AC.
This made-in-India device can be taken to the patient’s location for testing. The result of the test can be obtained in an hour.
