MADURAI: Deputy inspector general (
DIG) of police (
Madurai range) S Rajendran and Madurai district superintendent of police (
SP) Sujit Kumar on Tuesday paid homage to special sub-inspector (SSI) M Pandi who died of Covid-19.
Pandi was the first police personnel in Madurai district to die of Covid-19.
DIG and SP assured to speed up the process of getting a job and Rs 50 lakh compensation to the family of the deceased.
Pandi, who was attached to the Checkanurani police station, tested positive for Covid-19 on June 27. He died on Monday morning.
S Rajendran and Sujit Kumar visited Pandi’s house in Checkanurani and paid floral homage to his portrait. They met his wife and children and conveyed their condolences.
Recently, the
Tamil Nadu government announced job and 50 lakh compensation for the kin of deceased frontline warriors.
Pandi contracted Covid-19 from a complainant, who visited the station. He died in Government Rajaji Hospital.
