MUMBAI: The wife of a
court staffer has lodged a
police complaint against a private doctor and
laboratory for a “misleading” Covid report given to her, causing “mental harassment to her and her neighbours”.
The complaint filed at Wadala Truck Terminal police station also states that she was overcharged.
The complainant, Shubhangi Bibhishan Bansode, had a headache and weakness in June. The Pratiksha Nagar resident went to a doctor who runs a diagnostic centre. “I was made us pay Rs 5,000 though the state has fixed the
Covid test rate at 4,500,” she said.
On June 6, BMC officials told Bansode’s husband that she was positive. “We quarantined our two kids and and told our neighbours who went for quarantine and Covid tests,” she said.
The
bar code number on the
lab report was hers (Shubangi’s) but the patient’s name was someone else’s, she said. “The report was negative,” she said. But on June 7, her husband got a soft copy saying she was positive. “It left us confused,” her husband said. “The doctor falsely submitted Shubhangi was admitted to his hospital. I suspect a nexus between doctor and the lab.”
Senior inspector Shailesh Pasalwar said they are verifying the complaint.
The doctor rubbished the allegation. “. The system generated a wrong number,” he said.
