PGA Tour player Grayson Murray has confirmed he will miss this week's 3M Open in Minnesota after testing positive for Covid-19.

Murray took to social media to confirm the diagnosis after he started feeling unwell and decided to get tested while preparing to travel to the 3M Open. 

His positive test marks the seventh for a PGA Tour player.

"This past Friday I started having symptoms of a migraine, runny nose and loss of smell/taste. I was supposed to leave for a tournament in the morning but I knew getting on a plane feeling crappy wasn't a good idea," he wrote on Instagram.

"Luckily a couple people I knew made some calls and they were able to administrate a rapid test for me this evening and the results came back positive for Covid-19.

"I will be self-isolating at home and following the PGA Tour guidelines so I can get back out on the course as soon as possible.

"If I've been around you in the last week and you start to feel any symptoms please go get tested! Thanks guys!"

PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan said last week he was proud of the relatively low number of positive tests on the tour since resuming in mid-June.

"You don't want to have any, but I think as you look at where we are and the trends for our overall program, and again, the tightening that we've done, I think that the results are very good, and we're certainly encouraged by that. We're proud of that," he said.

"I think our players deserve a ton of credit for not only what they're doing here on-site in terms of social distancing and masking and being entirely aware of what we need to do when we're on property, but also as I've gone market to market seeing players in hotels and other places, I think we're executing a plan that we set out, and we're confident that if we continue to do that we're going to be in a really good place as we go forward."
