A 12-year-old boy allegedly committed suicide after being stopped from playing games on his mobile phone in Mumbai.

On Monday afternoon, the minor was playing videogames on his mobile phone when his mother snatched the phone away. His mother had asked him to stop playing games and concentrate more on his studies.

Enraged by this, the minor furiously went to another room in the house and locked the door from inside.

Later when the minor did not open the door, the family broke open the door but found him hanging from a ceiling fan. He had hung himself using his mother's dupatta.

He was soon rushed to Rajawadi hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Shivaji Nagar police station have filed an accidental death report (ADR) in the matter.

The statement of the minor's father is being recorded and further investigation is underway.
