New Delhi: A day after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi released his second video on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s alleged “blunders” in handling of the border standoff between India and China, Union minister Prakash Javadekar Tuesday listed a set of Gandhi’s “achievements” since February.

Javadekar, who is the Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Environment, Forest & Climate Change and Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises, took to Twitter to highlight these achievements that included “Shaheen Bagh and riots”, “losing Jyotiraditya and MP”, and “defending China”.

The minister said Gandhi’s achievements began in February with the Shaheen Bagh sit-in protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act. He also listed the subsequent Northeast Delhi riots in which over 50 people died.

In March, the Congress lost party’s former Madhya Pradesh MP Jyotiraditya Scindia’s along with 22 MLAs. Shortly thereafter, the Congress government in MP fell and the Shivraj Singh Chouhan-led BJP government came to power.

According to Javadekar, Gandhi instigated migrant workers during the nationwide Covid-19 lockdown in April, when lakhs of labourers walked hundreds of kilometres to return to their home states. May saw the 6th anniversary of the “historic defeat” of the Congress, said Javadekar, referring to the 2014 general elections in which the party was reduced to 44 seats.

He also counted Gandhi’s alleged “defence” of China in June, and the virtual “collapse” of the Congress government in Rajasthan this month, following former deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot’s rebellion.

“Rahul Baba note India’s achievements in ‘war against #Corona’. India has the least average cases, active cases and death rate than the US, Europe and Brazil. By making fun of candle lights, Rahul Gandhi ji you have insulted the people of India & brave Corona warriors,” the minister added.

What Rahul Gandhi said about PM

Since the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic in India, Rahul Gandhi has criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s handling of the crisis. He accused the PM of buying substandard equipment and blamed him for the rise in caseload in the country. The former Congress chief also slammed the Gujarat model as the state recorded a high Covid mortality rate.

Gandhi also hit out at the Modi government over the hike in fuel prices, economic “mismanagement, and the state of small and medium enterprises in the country.

In the two videos Gandhi released over the last few days, he questioned the PM’s handling of the Chinese incursion at the Line of Actual Control. He also said Modi surrendered Indian territory to Chinese aggression, calling him “Surender Modi”.
