Bangalore Karnataka lockdown news dates COVID cases latest: Karnataka CM BS Yediyurappa announced that the lockdown would be lifted from Wednesday, adding that people needed to get back to work in the state, ANI reported. CM Yediyurappa said: “There’ll be no lockdown from tomorrow, people need to get back to work, economy is also very important.”
The CM said that the state had to fight COVID-19 while maintaining a stable economy. “Lockdown is not the solution, now restrictions will be placed only in containment zones,” he stated.
Talking about the strategy to counter COVID19, CM BS Yediyurappa said, “Experts have suggested a 5T strategy – Trace, Track, Test, Treat and Technology.”
Lockdown is on in Bengaluru even as the Karnataka capital is likely to have more coronavirus cases than India’s financial capital Mumbai in August! While Mumbai’s infections were growing at 2 per cent per day in June and Bengaluru at 10 per cent, Mumbai’s infection growth has fallen to 1.3 per cent while Bengaluru’s is still 8.7 per cent. Bengaluru is likely to have 1.4 lakh cases by the second week of August. Mumbai is likely to have 1.3 lakh coronavirus cases. On June 21, Bengaluru had a mere 1,083 cases as against Mumbai’s 65,265. Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa will address the people of the State today. The CM’s address will come even as the week-long lockdown in Bengaluru rural and urban districts is scheduled to be lifted 5 am on July 22. The lockdown in the state is likely to be lifted. However, the CM is likely to announce restrictions on public movement. The Sunday lockdown is likely to continue and Saturday is likely to be a public holiday.
The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has formed a special Covid Task Force in Bengaluru with an aim to strategise containment measures. The state government has decided that it would go ahead with the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) 2020. The KCET 2020 is scheduled to be held on July 30 and 31. Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister C N Ashwathnarayan has said that asymptomatic Covid-19 positive candidates will be allowed to appear in the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) 2020.
Karnataka reported 3,648 COVID-19 cases and 72 deaths on Monday, taking the total number of active cases to 42,216 and the death toll to 1,403. The Karnataka state health department was quoted by ANI as saying that Bengaluru recorded the highest number of cases – 1,452, and 31 COVID19 related deaths on Monday.

In Bagalkote 743 coronavirus case are there, in Ballari, there are 2,662 COVID19 cases, Belagavi has 1,073, Bengaluru Rural 845, Bengaluru Rural 33,227, Bidar 1,403, Chamarajanagara 330, Chikkaballapura 900, Chikkamagaluru 336, Chitraguda 246, Dakshin Kannada 3,680, Devanagere 880, Dharwad 2,245, Gadag 616, Hassan 952, Haveri 494, Kalaburagi 2,867, Kodagu 280, Kolar 527, Koppal 513, Mandya 910, Mysuru 1,773, Raichur has 999, Ramanagara has 508, Shivamogga has 852, Tumakuru has 698, Udupi has 2,321, Uttara Kannada 1,163, Vijayapura has 1,745, and Yadgir has 1,596.
There are a number of coronavirus helpline numbers in the state. For ambulance, you need to call 108. For telemedicine, you need to call 14410. For grievances, you can call 1912. For General Health issues, you need to call 104.
The lockdown in Bengaluru will continue till July 22. However, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) commissioner asserted said lockdown won’t be extended in Karnataka capital. Meanwhile, the state government has extended lockdown in the Kalaburagi district till July 27 midnight. Decision taken as the number of coronavirus cases continues to rise, Kalaburagi Deputy Commissioner B Sharat said. There are 7,053 containment zones in the Karnataka capital. Out of the total, 5,598 are active containment zones.
