Bihar BJP MLC Sunil Kumar Singh dies of Covid-19

PATNA: A 69-year-old BJP MLC, Sunil Kumar Singh, became the state’s first legislator to die of Covid-19 infection on Tuesday evening. He was undergoing treatment at AIIMS-Patna where he was admitted after testing positive for the virus on July 13.
According to Dr Sanjeev Kumar, the AIIMS nodal officer for Covid-19, Singh was on ventilator for the past five days after he complained of breathlessness. “He was suffering from fever and also had diabetes and hypertension. He passed away at 8.45pm on Tuesday,” Kumar said.
CM Nitish Kumar condoled the death of the legislator. In a press statement, the CM said Singh was popular for his social work . “His death is a great loss for politics as well as society,” he stated. The CM called the deceased legislator’s son Sujeet Kumar over phone to express his grief. Singh hailed from Darbhanga.
