Implement all phases of Jal Jivan Mission by 2022: Yogi Adityanath

LUCKNOW: Jal Jivan Mission under the central government’s Har Ghar Jal Scheme, through which the UP government will be connecting certain parts of the state to drinking water supply, will now be extended to eight aspirational districts.
Reviewing the implementation of the scheme on Monday, chief minister Yogi Adityanath also gave instructions for the appointment of a director for Jal Jivan Mission.
“Work on all four phases should be completed by 2022. In areas where drinking water scheme has been implemented, supply should be provided immediately,” the CM said.
“To supplement central funds for the scheme, the state should make arrangements in the budget,” Yogi said and asked officials to explore the possibility of getting loans from agencies like NABARD and HUDCO.
The CM said he would review the implementation of work under each phase every 15 days.
In the first phase of the mission, the government will extend drinking water facility to Bundelkhand, followed by Vindhyanchal in the second phase. Regions affected by Japanese Encephalitis/AES, arsenic and fluoride will be covered in the third phase and the remaining districts will be taken up in the last phase.
