Delhi sees waterlogging\, wall collapse incidents with first spell of heavy rains Sunday

The very first spell of heavy rains on Sunday brought the capital to a standstill as waterlogging slowed traffic movement. Four people lost their lives due to the heavy rains, according to PTI.

A mini-truck driver lost his life by drowning under the waterlogged Minto bridge.

Around 100 places were waterlogged becasue of the heavy rains and ten houses collapsed in a slum area.

Around a dozen wall collapse incidents and 66 felling of trees were reported, PTI quoted municipal officials as saying.

Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal said that this is not the time for balme-game as all agencies have been busy with fighting the coronavirus pandemic.

With the heavy downpour witnessed on Sunday, the overall precipitation in the city in July is now in the surplus category -- eight per cent more than normal, according to the India Meteorological Department.
