Deepika Padukone and Prabhas will star in a sci-fi drama film together

While there may be a lull in the production schedules of most films owing to the lockdown right now, celebrities are still keeping their fans updated on all the fun new projects they've got in the pipeline. Deepika Padukone and Prabhas dropped important news of their own over the weekend—the two will star in a sci-fi drama flick, directed by Nag Ashwin, very soon. In a video on Instagram, production house Vyjayanthi Movies revealed, “Through the years, we have had the privilege to work with some extraordinary women. Now with pride we welcome Deepika Padukone with Prabhas. Bringing together India’s biggest superstars.” The video also mentioned some of the prolific actors they'd worked with in the past, including Sridevi, Jayaprada, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Rani Mukerji, Suhasini and Vijayashanti. 

Prabhas also echoed the same excitement. “We are very excited to have @deepikapadukone on board,” he shared with his fans. Padukone wrote that she was “beyond thrilled” and could not wait for “an incredible journey ahead,” on her official Instagram page. In a statement, Ashwin said, “I’m very excited to see Deepika play this character. It is something no mainstream lead has done before and will be quite a surprise for everyone. The pairing of Deepika and Prabhas will be one of the main highlights of the film and the story between them, I believe, will be something audiences will carry in their hearts for years to come.”

As it turns out, Prabhas and Padukone both have a wide variety of films coming down the pike. Prabhas is all set to appear in Radhe Shyam, a bilingual romantic comedy opposite Pooja Hegde, and post lockdown, fans will see Padukone and husband Ranveer Singh in '83, a sports film about India's victory at the 1983 Cricket World Cup. Deepika Padukone has also committed to star alongside Siddhant Chaturvedi and Ananya Panday in a romantic drama film, and also reportedly plans to portray Draupadi in a retelling of the Mahabharata. The Bollywood star will also produce and act in a remake of the American comedy film, The Intern. Looks like there's lots to look forward to for movie enthusiasts in the coming months.
