Ashok Gehlot let out a flurry of invective against congress rebel Sachin pilot on Monday afternoon, calling him a 'useless, meaningless character'.
Gehlot said he kept quiet about pilot's 'nefarious' activities for six long years because it wasn't in the Congress's interest. But, he said, he was now forced to speak out because pilot was conspiring with the BJP.
Earlier also, Gehlot, without naming Pilot, had said that giving bytes in English to TV channels do not make one a capable politician. But on Monday, Gehlot said Pilot conspired with the BJP to topple his government. "Continuing in the post of PCC president for seven years is a big thing. He had the confidence of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. But in the last six months, he conspired with the BJP to topple the Government. When Congress MLAs were not willing to join the BJP, he said he will make a third front and get the BJP to support it like Bihar," Gehlot said.
Gehlot added that Pilot was given many responsibilities at a very young age. "Nobody believed that he was trying to topple the Government. He had good command over Hindi and English and was a face before the media. But he is a useless and meaningless character. I did not make it a controversy in the interest of the party. He used to say that he was here not to sell vegetables, but to become a Chief Minister. He tried to make people fight," Gehlot said.
