Block pramukh tests +ve without giving samples in Garhwa

Ranchi: A video shot by Dharamraj Paswan, an elected member of the Kharoundi block (pramukh) of Garhwa, went viral on social media on Sunday after he alleged lapses in Covid-19 testing in the district. This comes at a time when the total number of Covid-19 cases in the district rose to 242 of which 145 are still active.
In the video, Paswan is seen claiming that he was tagged Covid-19 positive by the district administration on Saturday, but he never gave samples for the test. He also threatened to lodge an FIR against the district administration and health department officials for “defaming” him.
Meanwhile, Garhwa civil surgeon N K Rajak said, “There could have been a human error or some mistake at the ground level. We had offered him (Paswan) to get readily checked through the TrueNat machine, but he wasn’t ready to listen and threatened to lodge an FIR.”
Rajak added, “Being a public representative, he should get himself tested now rather than politicising the issue.”
Paswan in the video said, “This exposes how casual authorities in the district are about combating Covid-19. How can a person who never gave his samples for tests be certified Covid-19 positive? I got a letter from the district health department stating I am Covid-19 positive. It’s a gross violation and I demand strict action against the erring officials.”
He added that on Friday he had gone to Bhawnathpur with his men where a Covid-19 testing camp was underway at a local hospital. He had initially enrolled himself by filling the form for the test, but couldn’t give his samples as he left the site for some urgent work in the court.
“A doctor named Dinesh advised me to come the next day. I then left for court, but around 2.30pm on that same day, I got a call saying my turn for the test has arrived. I expressed my inability stating that I have already reached Garhwa. The next day I get a letter stating I am covid-19 positive. I demand the state government to take strict action against erring officials.”
