Mysuru: Leopard, which had fallen into 100-ft-deep well, rescued

MYSURU: The leopard, which had fallen into a 100-feet-deep dry well at Karapura village in HD Kote taluk of Mysuru district on Friday, was rescued by the authorities on Monday evening.
RFO Siddaraju on Saturday had locked himself in a cage and entered this well to find out whether the leopard is inside the well or not. Later, the visuals of the leopard were captured by locals on mobile phones. Even on Sunday, the authorities had carried out the search of operation inside the well.

Prakash Karapura, whose house is located next to the dry well said, the leopard was lifted late in the evening. "It was immediately moved from the spot," he explained.
Two eyewitnesses informed TOI that first a sharpshooter entered inside the well and tranquillised the leopard. Later it was lifted.
The entire area witnessed heavy rainfall on Monday which disrupted search operations.
According to the locals, the leopard was left inside a local forest after capturing. "It was taken up to Balle forest area. Then we didn't know where it was taken," explained locals.
