Vice-president M Venkaiah Naidu praised the print media, saying it has been on the frontline of battling the novel coronavirus pandemic in the country. It is up to the Centre, state and media to inform and equip people accordingly, he added. He said, “With the economy contracting due to restrictions, advertisement revenues have dried up. Scales of operations had to be adjusted and a good number of mediapersons had to take pay cuts. But, by and large, the media persisted with the mission of empowering the people, when it is needed the most”.
