HYDERABAD: After criticism from several quarters, including the
Telangana high court over discrepancies between numbers on
Covid-19 cases disclosed at the district and
state levels, the
bulletin system is set for changes starting Monday.
According to highly-placed sources, district medical health officers (DMHO) have received instructions to not release district-level numbers on a daily basis for their districts from Sunday.
The sources told TOI that while reasons behind the move were not given to district authorities, it was revealed that going forward, there will be only one state-level bulletin released which will include the number of cases reported in each district.
Till now, except Hyderabad, all district collectorates had been releasing their individual bulletins. District bulletins contain total number of cases till that day along with total number of negatives, positives and samples collected. However, the state bulletin will mention only the number of cases reported each day.
One of the key reasons behind the decision was that district authorities had been reporting more number of cases while the state bulletin would mention a lesser number. In the past few day, several changes have been made to the state-level bulletin given by the medical and health department.
Earlier, there were no details on private labs, hospitals,
bed capacities and sample collection but now those details are being mentioned. However, the government is yet to mention number of
antigen samples and RT-PCR samples collected separately.
Another important change to be introduced is a live dashboard which will show the real-time bed capacity in hospitals. This dashboard will be available from either Monday or Tuesday.
