CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Sunday said the state has been conducting 48,000 Covid-19 tests daily.
"This is the highest among states," Palaniswami informed Prime Minister Narendra Modi when the latter called him over the phone in the morning.
Modi spoke to CM Palaniswami to ascertain the measures being taken by the state government in its fight against Covid-19.
The chief minister explained the measures being taken by his government and said Tamil Nadu was going all out to contain the spread of the virus, a statement from Tamil Nadu government said.
